SA: DaimlerChrysler recalls vans

DaimlerChrysler Australia Pacific has issued a recall on about 2,000 Freightliner trucks
made in the United States because of problem that could lead to brake failure.

The company is urging owners to contact a Freightliner dealership as soon as possible.

It says the brake piston rod, which activated the service brakes, could bend or fracture
causing a loss of brakes.

DaimlerChrysler says it is essential that all affected vehicles are rectified.

The company says the more than 1,900 vehicles sold in Australia and affected by the
recall were manufactured between May 1991 and November 10, 2000.
