Qld: Beattie denies he knew of scam, inquiry told

Queensland Premier PETER BEATTIE has repeated his previous claims to have been unaware
of any illegal vote-rigging in South Brisbane in 1986.

Mr BEATTIE says party branches had conducted legitimate - and legal - membership drives
from time to time but he could not remember any complaints about suspicious branch stacking
