NSW: Six men reappear in court over extortion racket

Six men alleged to be involved with a notorious Asian crime gang will reappear in court
today charged over an extortion racket targeting small businesses in western Sydney.

New South Wales Police say group members have claimed to be linked with the Big circle gang.

Investigators hope the special operation will encourage other victims of extortion
to report the crime.

Numerous counts of demanding money with menaces were laid against the six in a police
operation Saturday after 17 small businesses in Church Street, Parramatta, were targeted
by them.

Two have appeared in Parramatta Bail Court and the others at Lidcombe Children's Court.

All were refused bail and remanded to re-appear today.
