Fed: Abbott compared to Pauline Hanson with dole idea

One of Australia's youngest trade union leaders has compared TONY ABBOTT to PAULINE
HANSON and SARAH PALIN following reports the federal opposition leader's considering banning
the dole for people under 30.

Mr ABBOTT's flagged an age test for unemployment benefits as a way of enticing young
people to move west to fill labour shortages in the resources sector.

But Australian Workers' Union boss PAUL HOWES .. who at 28 is one of the nation's youngest
trade union leaders .. says people under 30 wouldn't automatically find work in the resources
sector under Mr ABBOTT's plan.

Mr HOWE's told Sky News its crass politics at its worst .. typical of PAULINE HANSON
.. and a SARAH PALIN moment.

He says this type of ultra right-wing politics does nothing to rectify the skills shortage.
